Diabetes educators are people who help patients with diabetes manage their day to day fight with the disease. These educators see their patients more often than their doctor. Most of the times, patients miss out on crucial information pieces related to their numbers. There was a need for a platform that can facilitate educators to keep track of their patient’s data regularly, which meant educators could quickly respond to their patients without having to wait for the next appointment. Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) data, which is already available in the MyDiabetesHome portal, needed to be made available for the educator to view on demand. Since patient health information is highly personal, access to a patient’s health information had to be controlled and consented by the patient.

Solution

Volga Infotech created a portal on top of the existing patient portal for the Educators. This portal has a very robust access control system, where the patient can control access to part or whole of their health data. An educator can get access to a patient’s health history as well as daily activity and sugar readings that are tracked by devices. The patient can revoke access to a particular educator at any given time.
